This month will see the completion of Cate’s
latest piece of sculpture, ‘Look
Out’, a 7 metre high glass cone filled with five giant stainless steel
spheres installed on the roof of the new Debenhams department store at MetroCentre,
Gateshead.
Commissioned by Capital Shopping Centres in a competition
organised by Gateshead Council, the 11.5 tonne sculpture marks the
south west corner of the shopping centre’s new Red Mall development.
The sparkling glass and metal feature is currently
being fitted with LED lighting and fibre optics which will light up
the sculpture at night making it visible from the A1 and surrounding
area.
Look Out will be the latest land mark sculpture
for the North East and will be officially launched with the opening
of the new Red Mall on October 6th.
